Lumeli is a focus and digital-wellbeing app developed by Payam Ghaffarvand Mokari (“Lumeli,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is processed when you use Lumeli.
Lumeli is designed to work primarily on your device. You do not need to create a Lumeli account to use the app. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs, sell personal data, or use Lumeli data for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising.
If iCloud is enabled and available, Lumeli uses Apple’s SwiftData and CloudKit services to synchronize eligible progress through the private iCloud database associated with your Apple account. This allows eligible progress to return after reinstalling Lumeli or using Lumeli on another supported Apple device signed in to the same Apple account.
Lumeli does not place your progress in a public CloudKit database.
Lumeli uses Apple’s Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings frameworks to provide app-blocking, focus, and screen-time management features.
Depending on the features you choose to use, Lumeli may process on your device information such as:
Apple’s Family Controls framework normally provides privacy-preserving identifiers for selected applications, categories, and websites. Lumeli does not receive your Apple account password, iCloud password, messages, photos, or the contents of other apps.
Active Screen Time restrictions, Screen Time authorization, and your selected apps, categories, or websites are not synchronized through Lumeli’s CloudKit progress store.
When iCloud is enabled and available, Lumeli may synchronize eligible app progress, including:
This information is stored locally first and may then be synchronized by Apple through the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple account within Lumeli’s CloudKit container.
Synchronization may be delayed or unavailable when your device is offline, you are signed out of iCloud, iCloud is disabled, your iCloud storage is unavailable, or Apple’s services are temporarily unavailable. Lumeli is designed to continue using locally stored progress when iCloud synchronization is unavailable.
Payments and App Store transactions are processed by Apple.
Lumeli uses StoreKit to obtain information needed to provide and restore paid features, which may include product identifiers, purchase and entitlement status, subscription expiration or revocation information, and introductory-offer eligibility.
We do not receive or store your payment-card number or other payment-card details.
If you grant notification permission, Lumeli may schedule local notifications, such as focus-completion alerts, daily-limit notifications, or streak reminders.
These notifications are generated locally by the app. Lumeli does not currently operate a server for sending marketing push notifications.
Apple may provide developers with crash reports, performance information, and other diagnostic information if you have chosen to share such information with developers through your Apple device settings.
Apple controls the collection and sharing of this information under its own terms, settings, and privacy policies.
We process information as necessary to:
We do not use Lumeli data for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising, and we do not sell personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we rely on one or more of the following:
Some Lumeli features also require permissions or authorizations provided through Apple’s operating system, including Screen Time and notification authorization. These system permissions determine whether Lumeli can access or use the relevant Apple functionality and are separate from the legal bases described above.
You can change or withdraw applicable system permissions through your device settings. Disabling a permission may prevent the corresponding Lumeli feature from functioning.
Where processing is based specifically on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.
Private iCloud synchronization is provided through Apple’s CloudKit infrastructure and depends on your device, Apple account, network connection, available iCloud storage, device configuration, and Apple’s services.
Eligible synchronized progress is stored in the private database associated with your Apple account within Lumeli’s CloudKit container. Access to that database is controlled through Apple’s CloudKit and iCloud authentication mechanisms.
We do not receive your Apple account or iCloud credentials.
Apple separately processes information associated with services such as iCloud, CloudKit, the App Store, StoreKit, Screen Time, and developer diagnostics according to Apple’s terms and privacy practices.
For more information, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
We do not sell or rent personal data.
Information may be processed by Apple where necessary to provide Apple platform services used by Lumeli, including iCloud and CloudKit synchronization, App Store purchases, StoreKit, Screen Time functionality, notifications, and optional developer diagnostics.
We may also disclose information if required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect the security of Lumeli, our legal rights, or users.
Lumeli currently does not use third-party advertising, analytics, authentication, or cloud-backend providers to store or analyze your Lumeli progress.
If this changes in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated as required.
Information stored locally by Lumeli generally remains on your device until it is removed by you, removed by Lumeli as part of normal app operation, or deleted when you remove the app.
Deleting Lumeli removes its local app data from that device, but does not necessarily delete progress that has already been synchronized to your private iCloud database. As a result, synchronized progress may return if you later reinstall Lumeli or use Lumeli on another supported device signed in to the same Apple account.
Progress synchronized through iCloud may remain in your private iCloud database until you delete the relevant iCloud data, Apple removes it in accordance with its policies, or Lumeli provides functionality that removes it.
Apple may provide controls through your device or iCloud settings for viewing or managing data associated with apps that use iCloud. The availability, location, and wording of these controls may vary by operating-system version.
If you need assistance with Lumeli data or wish to make a privacy request, contact us at p.ghaffarvand@gmail.com. We will explain and provide reasonable assistance with the options available to us and to you.
Purchase and transaction records may be retained by Apple according to Apple’s legal obligations and policies.
Diagnostic information, where you have chosen to share it with developers, is handled according to Apple’s settings and policies and may be retained by us only for as long as reasonably necessary for legitimate troubleshooting, security, or reliability purposes.
Lumeli relies on Apple platform security protections and private CloudKit storage for synchronized progress.
We take reasonable measures appropriate to Lumeli’s architecture to protect information processed by the app. However, no electronic storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Cloud synchronization may also fail or be delayed because of network conditions, device configuration, iCloud availability, or other technical circumstances. Lumeli is designed to continue using locally stored data when iCloud synchronization is unavailable.
Apple may process information associated with its services in countries other than the country where you live.
Apple describes its international data-processing practices and applicable safeguards in its privacy and legal materials. For more information, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights relating to your personal data, including rights to:
Some Lumeli information may exist only locally on your device or within your private iCloud database in a form that we cannot independently identify or retrieve.
Where this applies, we will explain the controls available to you and provide reasonable assistance with your request. We will not ask you to provide your Apple account or iCloud password.
To exercise a privacy right or ask a privacy-related question, contact: p.ghaffarvand@gmail.com
We may request enough information to understand and, where legally required, verify your request.
If you are located in the EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data-protection supervisory authority in your country.
In Finland, the supervisory authority is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
Lumeli is not specifically directed to children.
We do not knowingly use children’s personal data for targeted advertising, profiling, or sale.
Where a child uses Lumeli, use of certain Apple features may be subject to parental or guardian authorization and Apple’s platform requirements. Parents and guardians should supervise a child’s use of Lumeli where appropriate.
If you believe personal data relating to a child has been processed improperly in connection with Lumeli, please contact us at p.ghaffarvand@gmail.com
We may update this Privacy Policy when Lumeli’s features, data practices, service providers, or legal obligations change.
When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy. Where required by applicable law, we will provide additional notice or request consent before materially different processing begins.
